Real-time gifs

Hi, sorry for the lack of updates in the last few months - I didn't have anything in mind that I'd consider interesting enough to post here. To make up for it, here are a bunch of real-time gifs made by my friend Sciphon that will have you wait for long periods of time again. :P

Above me is a jif of Luna orbiting the Earth in real-time, rendered by yours truly. It's over 27 days long and moves at about 11 minutes per frame. It's also more or less to scale, though Luna starts out in front of the Earth, so to see the full distance between them you'll have to wait until Luna completes a quarter of an orbit.

The Earth orbiting the Sun. Yes, this gif is actually one year long; I had to render nearly 49,248 frames, which makes this almost certainly the longest Blender animation I've ever made. 640.8 seconds or 10.68 minutes per frame. Unlike the previous gif, this one is (obviously) not to scale. Even at this tiny resolution it's over 20 megabytes.

Earth's rotation. 7121 frames at 12.1 seconds per frame. By far the beefiest of all these gee-eye-effs at nearly 100 megabytes.

Jupiter, full 9.9-hour rotation. This one wasn't rendered by me; it's a slowed-down version of the video found here.

This video of the Giant Impact that formed Luna, slowed down to the actual 24.7-hour duration shown in the corner.

This video of the planets (plus Ceres and Pluto) rotating by planetary scientist James O'Donoghue. Not all of the planets get to do a full rotation here; the gif is only 1 day, 15 hours and 42 minutes long, which is enough for Earth, Mars and the giant planets to complete a rotation.
